Audi R8 V10

Audi is cranking up the juice on its flagship R8 sports car with the introduction of the Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI quattro, which got an early reveal on the web today. The Audi R8 shares some less visible bits with its corporate cousin, the Lamborghini Gallardo, but until now the Lambo's V10 engine has remained exclusive to the Italian side of the family.



The Audi R8 V10 will be the street going version of the Audi R8 LMS that debuted a couple of weeks ago at the Essen Motor Show in Germany. It's 5.2L V10 is rated at 525 horsepower and 390.91 lb-ft of torque in European spec form. Those numbers fall a bit shy of the latest Lambo Gallardo LP560-4 even with the same displacement, which ensures that the Lambo can still command a price premium over the German machine. The U.S. version of the Audi R8 V10 should remain pretty close to these numbers. That will be enough to push the 0-62 sprint under four seconds to 3.9 seconds. Unfortunately, the R8 is still saddled with the same craptastic 6-speed R-tronic as the only alternative to its proper manual gearbox.

The Audi R8 V10 now also inches closer to the magical 200 mph mark with a terminal velocity of 196 mph. The Audi R8 V10 version gets a new set of all-LED headlights for both high and low beams and the scoops on the side blades now bulge out to suck in the extra air needed to feed and cool the larger engine and new design wheels and tires.

A new rear diffuser also helps keep the rear end planted where a set of twin oval tailpipes replace the quad exhausts on the standard model. The R8 V10 will be available in Germany starting next spring with a base price of EUR 142,400 (approx $180,000) and will make its official debut in January at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. This car now should hang with some serious motorcycles now.

Concept FASCINATION

Mercedes-Benz have published first photos of its new concept based on the upcoming E-Class Coupe's architecture and featuring the new E's front-end styling and named Concept FASCINATION that is promised to be shown during the Paris Motor Show next month.



The concept has new "rhomboid" lamps, wood covered cargo area, powerful and economical four-cylinder diesel engine. Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, commented: "This design study continues the long tradition of exciting coupés from Mercedes-Benz in impressive style. With its emotionally ap-pealing lines, ConceptFASCINATION offers a completely new interpretation of the coupé. City CAT

If you have heard something about the car designed by Motor Development International (MDI) Founder Guy Negre with a compressed air engine but have not seen yet here is the photos I've received today by email.Creators describe the model, calling City CAT as a car that can hit 68 mph and has a range of 125 miles. They report it will take only a few minutes for the City CAT to refuel at gas stations equipped with custom air compressor units. MDI says it should cost only around $2 to fill the car up with 340 liters of air!

Supercar Scorpion

Really it sounds great - a 200mph-plus supercar that takes 3.5 seconds to get to 60mph, and still gets 40 miles per gallon. I mean a new hybrid-powered sports car The Scorpion. The supercar also boasts a high performance V-6 engine, capable of delivering 289 hp, with an additional option for a 450 hp model.



Unlike other hydrogen vehicles, the Scorpion does not require a high pressure, on-board hydrogen storage tank or hydrogen fuelling station. And consequently, the system seems to tampering with the dark laws of thermodynamics.

New investors in Ronn Motors are currently being encouraged, via the company website. Ronn Maxwell of the company, says he expects to start deliveries in this year autumn, with no price announced so far.

Suzuki Concept Kizashi 3

Suzuki announced that new concept car called the Concept Kizashi 3 will be introduced at the New York Auto Show in two weeks.

The Concept Kizashi 3 will represent the completion of the Kizashi concept series as well as providing a closer-to-production vision of a future Suzuki sport sedan offering.



First Suzuki Kizashi Concept we have met at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, next the Kizashi Concept 2 - at the Tokyo Motor Show. At the New York Auto Show later this month, we'll meet the Concept Kizashi 3, the most production feasible Kizashi concept to date and the last one in the series. Cast in the form a sport sedan, the Concept Kizashi 3 portends a future performance four-door for the Japanese brand, and we're down with that given Suzuki hasn't played in this space with a decent offering, like, ever. We have no other information on Suzuki's big debut for New York, so no word on what powers it, which wheels are driven or what the interior's like, but we'll find out soon enough when Autoblog goes to Gotham.

78th Geneva Auto Show

Nissan Murano 2009.

Nissan took the wraps off its 2009 Murano crossover in Los Angeles. This auto calls the all-new model a "super-evolution" of the first-generation Murano.

Murano crossover first went on sale in 2003 as a 2004 model and helped popularize the crossover segment. The Japanese automaker is obviously hoping to build on that success with the substantially reworked 2009 Murano making its world bow the 2007 Los Angeles auto show.



The crossover features a new exterior and interior, more standard technology, and an improved driving experience thanks to a new platform — the new Altima's "D" architecture, to be exact. New Murano design includes an available dual panel power sliding glass moonroof and 2nd row skylight. Other available Murano features include a new foldaway cargo organizer, heated front and rear seats, power liftgate, rain-sensing front wipers and RearView Monitor.

General Motors started off the 2007 North American International Auto Show with a bang when its new full-size pickup, the Chevrolet Silverado, and its new midsize sedan, the Saturn Aura, won the North American Truck and Car of the Year awards.
