Opel Zafira

General Motors SA has represented photos of a new Opel Zafira MPV which will come into the market at the beginning of 2008. Features of the second-generation Zafira, Opel says, are:
Dynamic design and driving performance.
Quality interior with high-class look and feel.
A driver-orientated cabin.

Comprehensive safety features.
A choice of four models to suit customers' specification and engine requirements, including a CDTI diesel engine.
The versatility of the Flex7 system.
The world's first multi-windowed roof system as an option
'Flex7 seating brought a new level of flexibility between utility space and passengers'
.The Zafira is based on the Astra's basic architecture with significant changes to accommodate the larger dimensions and greater weight of the van configuration. Rigidity and strength have been optimised, as has crash impact behaviour.
Buyers have a choice of four Opel ECOTEC engines in the Zafira range, each matched to a specific features level:
A 1.6-litre petrol engine with Opel's Twinport technology capable of 77kW at 6000rpm with 150Nm of torque at 3900rpm. This engine is fitted to the base line Zafira 1.6 Essentia.
A 1.8-litre with continuously variable camshaft timing. This engine produces 103kW at 6300rpm and 175Nm at 3800rpm. The Zafira 1.8 Enjoy has this engine.
A new 2.2-litre petrol engine that produces 110kW at 5600rpm and 215Nm of torque at 4000rpm in the Enjoy specification level - with automatic transmission.
A 1.9-litre CDTI common-rail diesel that's turbo-charged and intercooled and produces 110kW at 4000rpm and 320Nm at 2000rpm – the same as in the new Opel Astra GTC – in the range-topping Zafira Elegance.
The 1.6 and 1.8-litre engines are mated to five-speed transmissions while the 2.2-litre direct injection unit is available matched to a four-speed automatic transmission only. The 1.9-litre CDTI engine has to a six-speed manual transmission – again, the same as the GTC.
The Opel Zafira is covered by a three-year or 100 000km warranty with 24-hour roadside assistance for the duration. A five-year or 100 000km maintenance plan is included in the price.
Zafira prices range from R182 000 to R253 700.
